Minutes Local Seminar
February 9th
Barcelona, Spain.
Fatima and Armando are participants of the Multicultural Group of FACEPA they are the moderators of the Seminar. They start with the presentation of the Seminar, the objectives, the people that is participating and what we will do the rest of the day.
They give the word to Ana Lebrón that is the President of FACEPA.
Ana Lebrón, the President of FACEPA explains the path of the Federation, their objectives and the relation between the federation and migratory process.
She explains how they participate, which are their activities and overall the methodology based in egalitarian participation, dialogue and respect.
She also makes reference in the organizations in which it participates:
- Social consensus of the Migrations.
- Table of third Sector in Catalunya.
- Platform against violence of genre.
- National Council of Women of Catalunya.
Adelaida as an assistant of the I International Conference in Lithuania present the STEP Project. She makes a summary about the relevant issues of the project, in which phase of the project we were and the importance of the relation with migratory processes.
She makes reference about her experience in Lithuania and how the discussion groups had made an impression in some people that didn’t know that methodology.
Adelaida also made an introduction of the products worked and some of the future activities.
After a coffee break some of our participants introduced the previous projects and their products.
María José Guerra: have been a participant of the multicultural group and realized the presentation in the Mosaic project.
She explains the elected product and why they have selected that one, also what it content and the importance of the welcoming phase in the migratory process.
María Barceló: she is also a participant since years ago. She explains her experience in the Who speaks? project that was under the coordination of FACEPA during 2003. María shared to all the assistants the activities of the project and how this opened the eyes before the situation of migrant’s persons. Within this project María started her path in the multicultural groups been an example and carrier of a message of inclusion and respect.
Ababakar Thiak: He is a companion work that coordinates SAHBI (Association Sociocultural Arabic Muslim in Barcelona). He explains to us about the Participation of Migrants in Futher Education project.
Besides that he explains the documentation of the Project, the content and the importance of the continuity of the education in the migratory process.
Then Fatima and Armando explain the next phase of the seminar. The participants of the Seminar divide in groups according of the color that each one received at the beginning of the Seminar. Each color corresponds to a phase of the migratory process in specific.
Green color: Education in further life, Red color: Welcoming and Yellow color: Social Participation in the migratory process.
The minutes of the groups:
1.-Mosaic: Welcoming and counseling.
Kenza Oulkade it’s a morocco lady that participate in the Adult School in Sabadell as a student of Catalan and Spanish. She presented the conclusions of her group.
- It´s really important to us to know the people that arrives to the country.
- Give information about the ladies group, Facepa and the multicultural group.
- Importance of get to know people and talk a lot with them.
- It’s important to participate because that way you can transmit the work you do.
2.-Who speaks? Social Participation
Cheikh N´diaye it’s a participant from Senegal that participates in the Catalan Association of Residents from Senegal.
- Recognize all the different cultures.
- To promote the relationship between the entities.
- To have more space to them and to us.
- To promote communication.
- Diffusion about all the programs in local daily places (bar, cafeterias, civil local centers)
Personalized thing do not result as well as the ones that can as a collective groups.
3.-Participation of migrants in further education
Pilar Salcedo is a participant of Adult School she was a migrants in the 60´s from the south of Spain. She presented the conclusions f the group that worked the phase of Education In long life term.
The final minutes of this group:
- We must work as a team, especially to have a lot of coordination between migrant’s persons and the association.
- The entities should do a follow-up, to put in contact with the migrant´s persons because that way they can participate.
- The associations should do a better publication of them.
- To web pages with all the European programs about adult education and migrants persons.
- Do informative meetings in a European level to share experiences around the countries.
- Make a DVD with images so disseminate experiences, or a monthly magazine, and with this information each association will work.
- It should be more night schools to the persons that work during the day.
- To have more facilities of materials, teachers, and information. Also to learn the language.
- Make fostering programs, to teach the language, share spaces and to share cultures to learn from one another.
- To have good will attitude.
- To continue with further education not to have to confirm all educational titles y and to loose so much time in managements things.
- To get all together and expose all the necessities about this issues to the Administration and Ministers.
- Thru the associations of universities make some students exchanges between locals and migrants students to share knowledge and experiences.
After lunch, three of the participants of the dialogic discussion groups of FACEPA explained their experiences in the group and the contributions that they’ve been done in their life.
Younes Fallek: He is from Morrocan and he is a participant of the Adult School of La Verneda in Catalunya and also a participant in the multicultural group of FACEPA been a great collaborator to the entity. Younes explained how he joined the group, what the group is, what they do, who they are and how they become together once a month.
Each one of the participant commented what motivates them to follow been in the group, what encourage them and what they find in the group that they can not find in another place.
Said Benkacem: He is from Morrocan too, he also a participant of the Adult School from la Verneda and join the multicultural group. Said shared with us his experiences in the group, he centered his contributions in the contents of the multicultural group, which issues do they discuss and the purpose; he also talked about the place of reunions.
Rhimo Zenaqui: She is from Marroc but she has 33 years living in Badalona, Catalunya. She explained her experiences when she arrived and seeing how the things have change during the time for migrant people. She focused her contribution inviting the participant to join the multicultural group.After this it opens a time for discuss some issues about the migrant process. It was a space of dialogue where the persons had the chance to say what they think about different issues.
